How does live tracking work?
With an app on your smartphone.
Is the app available for Android and iOS devices?
Yes, the system supports both Android and iOS devices (iPhone, min. iOS version: 17). Download the live tracking app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
How do I log in to the app?
Please enter your email and the event code. You'll find the details in the email you received after registration.
I have an Android phone. Do I need to disable battery management?
It depends on your model. The app helps you disable Android's standard battery optimization. However, some manufacturers like Oppo, Realme, Xiaomi, Vivo, and sometimes Huawei, Samsung, and OnePlus add their own, more aggressive optimizations that you may need to manually disable. If you have problems, you'll find many guides on the internet. Also, never put the device in 'battery saving mode' while using this app.
I have an iPhone. How do I give the app location permission?
There are several ways. Best to go to Settings and scroll down (or type 'Traqivo' in the search field) to find the app. Click on it and set 'Location' to 'always'.
Does the app drain the battery?
The app is very energy efficient. Nevertheless, we recommend bringing a power bank, especially for longer races. A 10,000 mAh power bank is sufficient for a one-day race.
Does the system require mobile data?
Yes, your phone must have mobile data enabled for the system to work.
What happens in areas without network coverage (remote/rural areas)?
No worries. Your route will still be recorded and will be transmitted as soon as you have network connection again.
Should I do a test run before the race?
Yes, we ask you to do a test, ideally a few days before the race. Take a walk, for example, and look at your track on the map to ensure everything works smoothly.
Can I get support from you as the platform provider if I have problems with the app or system?
We do our best to help, but please understand that our resources are limited. The organiser may be able to help you. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

When should I start the app and streaming of my position data before the race?
Please start the app at least 15 minutes before the start. Make sure you're logged in correctly and have activated streaming. The app gives you acoustic and visual feedback to ensure everything is OK.
Where can I see the live tracking?
The easiest way is to call up live tracking directly in the app after logging in. But live tracking is also accessible on any browser. The link is included in the confirmation email.
Is the live tracking in real time?
Almost. For technical reasons, there's a delay of about two minutes. Use the arrow button to see your current location without delay.
Does the app work in the background?
Yes, the app works in the background. However, it makes sense to activate your phone occasionally and check if you're visible in live tracking. It's best to use live tracking for orientation in the terrain and planning your hikes. Use the arrow button to see your real-time location.
Where can I see the live ranking?
The easiest way is to call up live ranking directly in the app after logging in. But live ranking is also accessible on any browser. The link is included in the confirmation email.
How can I check if I've reached a turnpoint?
The Android app emits a loud acoustic signal - a trumpet fanfare - when you enter a turnpoint's cylinder. You can also check your position on the map. Please use the live location (button with arrow pointing top right) as the icon with your name has a 2-minute delay.
How does the evaluation work?
The race task and evaluation are defined by the organiser – you'll find details in the respective rules. However, some basic rules are always the same: In a score race, ranking is based on points scored, with time as tiebreaker. In a race to goal, ranking is by finish time descending, in an out and return by maximum out-distance descending. Those who finish after the set goal time are ranked behind all who arrived on time.
Can I send a live tracking link to my fans and friends?
Yes, with the share button in the app. This way your people can follow your position and the race progress live.
When can I stop the app?
Please stop the app after you've reached the goal and finished the race.

General expand_less
What is the Traqivo system for?
The system supports you, your helpers and the sport buddies at sports events with: Registration >> Payment processing >> Raceday check-in >> Live tracking >> Live ranking. It's most useful when you use all components. In exceptional cases, registration can be omitted (upload of participant file by an admin). For free trainings or races, the payment process is omitted. If your rules are so complex that automatic evaluation isn't possible, you can use 'Live tracking only' mode. In this case, live ranking is omitted.
Can I use the system for my race or event?
Yes, absolutely! Just try it out.
Can I also use the system for other races or events, such as runs, trail runs, mountain bike races, regattas, etc.?
Basically yes. However, due to the limited accuracy of GPS position measurement, the accuracy of time measurement is also limited. Expect system-related inaccuracies of ±5 seconds on average.
Does it cost anything to use?
You can use the system freely for free events. If your race has an entry fee, a service fee applies. Please contact us.
How reliable is live tracking / live ranking?
The system is basically very reliable. If a 'gap' does occur, it can be corrected with an igc file or manually - see details below (Race Day).
Can I manage the race paperlessly with the system?
Yes, we'd like to encourage you to do everything in the system and avoid printouts, separate lists, etc.
Can I operate the system with my smartphone?
Yes, all functions are accessible on a smartphone browser.
In which languages is the system available?
Registration, FAQ and apps are available in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. The backend is in English.
Can I get support if I have problems with the system?
We do our best to help, but please understand that our resources are limited. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Can I use the system and do the collection myself or transfer it to third parties?
No.
Define Your Race expand_less
How do I set up a race?
Create an account with your email. Follow the instructions to define parameters, categories and turnpoints on a map. Finally send the registration link to the sport buddies. Please try to keep your race as simple as possible. You'll save yourself and the sport buddies unnecessary problems and it's more fun for everyone. Avoid, for example, overlapping turnpoints (TPs), too many TPs, extremely large or small TPs, too many categories, special rules, etc.
Which types of races are supported?
We support 'score race', 'race to goal' and 'out and return'. In a 'score race', the order of turnpoints is freely selectable, and each reached turnpoint gives points. Winner is who has collected the most points at the end. In a 'race to goal', the order of turnpoints is predetermined, and winner is who is fastest to the goal. In an 'out and return', the goal is to get as far from the start as possible and be back at the goal on time.
How does the evaluation work?
You largely determine the race task and evaluation yourself – please set the rules accordingly. However, some basic rules are always the same: In a score race, ranking is based on points scored, with time as tiebreaker. In a race to goal, ranking is by finish time descending, in an out and return by maximum out-distance descending.
Can I configure custom scoring settings?
For each turnpoint, you can set the radius and whether it must be reached on the ground or can be overflown. Additionally, you can (in score races) assign an individual score for each turnpoint. Additional tasks (special rules like precision landing, selfie posts, etc.) are also possible. Even if your race has many special rules, you can use our system: just use 'Live tracking only' mode - without automated evaluation and without leaderboard.
How do I define turnpoints?
It's easy on a map in the turnpoints module: tap on the location, set name, radius and details. Alternatively, you can upload a *.xctsk file containing a task.
Should I also define the start as a turnpoint?
No, please don't. It's not necessary and can interfere with evaluation, especially in score races and when the goal is at the same location as the start.
What is the list view of turnpoints for?
Use it to modify your turnpoints, especially their order. Note that the goal must always be at the bottom. Especially in a 'race to goal', pay attention to the correct order from top to bottom.
Can I copy the turnpoints of a category?
Yes. If the tasks of your categories are very similar or even identical, copying is much easier. It's best to define only one category and copy it at the end. You'll find the copy function in the turnpoints module.
Can I open registration and set turnpoints later?
No, please set at least provisional turnpoints from the beginning. Otherwise, sport buddies will see inconsistent results or even errors when testing the app.
Can I set up restricted access for helpers?
Yes, you can set a password for helpers. Helpers can log in with it and have exclusive access to the raceday module. Instead of an email, helpers enter the event code.
Should I use the 'Secure Login' option?
By default, sport buddies log in with their email address and a uniform access code. This corresponds to the event code. This has the advantage that forgetting the access data is hardly a problem. If you choose the 'Secure Login' option, each buddy receives an individual access code. Please weigh whether simple login or high security is more important to you.
Registration & Preparation expand_less
How do I inform sport buddies that registration is now open?
Send them a registration link. If you have a website, you can also add a registration button there. You'll find the link and code in the inscription module. The button turns red and inactive when the registration deadline has expired or the maximum number is reached.
Can I set up a discount for a specific person?
Yes, that's possible in the inscription module. You need to know the email with which this person will register. Press the discount button and enter the email and desired discount (1-100%).
Do I receive an email when someone registers?
Yes.
A sport buddy wants to change category. How do I record that?
Please use the corresponding button in the inscription module.
How does cancellation work?
Participants can use the cancellation link included in the registration confirmation email. Cancellations can also be managed in the inscription module. The system allows cancellation in two steps: 1. Cancel - the person disappears from the start list and live ranking but remains visible in the backend. 2. Permanently delete: this permanently deletes all registration data of the person concerned.
Can sport buddies download task files?
Yes. Tip: only share the link after the task is final.
What should I tell sport buddies regarding technology?
Encourage sport buddies to fully charge their smartphone before the race and bring a power bank. You can also recommend or even require that sport buddies make an igc recording on a second device as a precaution (e.g. with their variometer).
Should I recommend that sport buddies do a test run with the app?
Yes, absolutely. However, you should delete test recordings in the inscription module (red button 'Delete track data') before the race (e.g. 1 hour before the start) to prevent evaluation disruptions.
Can I integrate live tracking, the start list and live ranking into my website?
Yes. You'll find the code in the inscription module.

Does the system support me with a check-in before the start?
Yes, it's best to use the 'Digital signature of rules and disclaimer' (see below). This also gives you an overview of who is actually present.
Does the system support me with signing the liability waiver?
Yes, in the raceday module sport buddies can sign digitally. This is possible on all devices with touchscreen (smartphone, tablet, laptop with touchscreen).
Can I record last-minute cancellations or people who don't show up (no-show) or give up the race early?
Yes, in the inscription module.
Can I change the race task even during the race?
Yes. But avoid changing turnpoints that have already been reached. Inform sport buddies about the changes.
Can I check during the race whether live tracking is working for all sport buddies?
Yes, use the raceday module for this. Behind each name you'll find the time of the last GPS recording. If this is longer ago, three exclamation marks also appear. For longer interruptions: call the buddy and ask them to check and restart live tracking.
Is there a spectator view optimized for large screens (e.g. in the home base)?
Yes, you'll find the link for the 'big-screen-view' in your admin area. The big-screen view combines live tracking and live ranking on a large screen. This view is not suitable for small screens (smartphones).
How do I locate and contact sport buddies in distress?
Use the raceday module: Click on the name to locate the person. Click on 'contact' right next to it to call them.
Can I use the system to watch the race again?
Yes! Just use the review button on the live tracking map. There you'll find a time slider. Drag it back to the moment that interests you. With the time-lapse button, you can speed things up.
Can I focus live tracking on a specific buddy?
Yes! Open the leaderboard and find the buddy you're interested in. Then click on the blue live tracking icon to the right of the name. The map now follows this buddy.
Can I manually correct any errors in turnpoint registration?
Yes, use the link in the raceday module. If you come from there, you're automatically logged in as administrator and can add or delete reached turnpoints for individual buddies.
Can I upload an igc file to supplement any missing sections?
Yes. Logged in as admin, click on the buddy's name on the ranking page. At the bottom of the section that opens, you'll find the upload buttons. You can also upload multiple files. All points are merged into a single track.
